Lesson Policies

  • Private Students
  • Charter SChool Students

These are my lesson policies for my charter school music students. Please read them carefully before your first lesson. As we work together, our music education experience will be incredibly rewarding for both of us. I look forward to working with you!

Booking Lessons

After you and I have scheduled our regular lesson day/time each week, notify your Education Specialist or Instructor that you wish to request weekly music lessons with me. All students must request P.O.s for the entire semester at once. Once I have received the Purchase Order authorizing our lessons, we can begin! Alternate Booking Option: I also teach private lessons independently from charter schools. If you are interested, contact me for more information.

Please arrive promptly for your lesson. If you are late, I cannot extend your lesson time to make up for the time missed. If you arrive early, please wait to knock until your scheduled lesson time. If you drop your child off for a lesson, pick them up promptly at the end of their lesson time. If you have questions or need help with your music and we don’t have time to address them during our lesson, I’m more than happy to make myself available to you for discussion at times that are not reserved for other appointments.

Missed Lessons

All students must give 24 hours notice for any rescheduling. Please note that my availability for a makeup lesson is not guaranteed, and makeup lessons cannot be rescheduled. Excessive rescheduling and/or failure to give 24 hours notice could result in being dropped from my roster. For the sake of your investment and your progress, make our lessons a priority. If an unavoidable conflict arises (such as illness), contact me as soon as possible. I will do my best to work with your scheduling needs as long as reschedules do not become a frequent occurrence. If sickness or other circumstances prevent you from attending your lesson, I can do a FaceTime, Skype, or phone lesson at your scheduled lesson time so you don't miss out.

Please do not attend your lesson if you are sick! I do not want germs to spread through my music studio, and you will be better off resting at home anyway. If you are ill, contact me as soon as possible and I will do everything I can to schedule a makeup lesson. If you have been sick, make sure you are symptom-free for at least a few days before coming to your lesson. If the flu or something highly contagious is spreading around your family, please cancel your lesson in advance, just in case. Stay home, rest, and get well soon!

Holidays, Vacations, and Special Circumstances

Charter schools cannot use school funds to pay for lessons on any holiday or non-student day. I don’t want you to miss out on your progress, so if your lesson falls on a holiday, please contact me about rescheduling that week’s lesson. I can accept private payment for lessons during extended holidays such as Winter Break, Spring Break, Summer, etc. If you have a vacation planned during the school year, please let me know as soon as possible and we’ll work out our lesson schedule around it. I like to go on vacation as much as you do and promise to extend you this same courtesy. Please note: Students who choose to take an extended break from lessons, such as summer break, are not guaranteed a spot in my studio when they return.

One Final Note: Practice, Practice, Practice!

I ask all students to practice 6 days a week. I provide a practice calendar to help you keep track. There is a lot we can accomplish during our lessons, but it is up to you to review the material at home. If you do not practice, you are wasting your potential, your investment, and our lesson time. Practicing is the only way to become the exceptional musician you and I want you to be.

Please note that failure to adhere to these policies could result in being dropped from my studio.

Thank you for following my lesson policies! If you have any questions, contact me and I’ll get back to you within 24 hours.
