These are my lesson policies for my private music students. Please read them carefully before your first lesson. As we work together, our music education experience will be incredibly rewarding for both of us. I look forward to working with you!

Payment Up Front Each Month

Payment for the month is due at the first lesson of each calendar month. Typically that will mean you are paying for 4 weeks at a time, but if your lessons are on a Thursday and there are 5 Thursdays that month, you will pay for 5 weeks in that case. Please note that this payment is your tuition and reserves your regular lesson time through the month; I will reserve that time exclusively for you and it is up to you to attend.

Payment Method

I accept payment in either cash, a personal check, or PayPal.

Attendance

Please arrive promptly for your lesson. If you are late, I cannot extend your lesson time to make up for the time missed. If you arrive early, please wait to knock until your scheduled lesson time. If you drop your child off for a lesson, pick them up promptly at the end of their lesson time. If you have questions or need help with your music and we don’t have time to address them during our lesson, I’m more than happy to make myself available to you for discussion at times that are not reserved for other appointments.

Missed Lessons

All students must give 24 hours notice for any rescheduling requests. Please note that my availability for a makeup lesson is not guaranteed, and makeup lessons cannot be rescheduled. Excessive rescheduling and/or failure to give 24 hours notice could result in being dropped from my roster. For the sake of your investment and your progress, make our lessons a priority. If an unavoidable conflict arises (such as illness), contact me as soon as possible. I will do my best to work with your scheduling needs as long as reschedules do not become a frequent occurrence.

Sickness

Please do not attend your lesson if you are sick! I do not want germs to spread through my music studio, and you will be better off resting at home anyway. If you are ill, contact me as soon as possible and I will do my best to reschedule your lesson. If you have been sick, make sure you are symptom-free for at least a few days before coming to your lesson. If the flu or something highly contagious is spreading around your family, please consider canceling your lesson in advance anyway (just in case). Just stay home, rest, and feel better soon!

Holidays

Like most businesses, I do not take the same amount of time off for holidays that schools do. With the exception of major holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, I will continue teaching as normal. If you’d like to go out of town or take the day off because your child is out of school, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance. I can often hold a morning lesson on days when students are out of school so that you don’t miss your lesson and the rest of the day is available to you.

Vacations and Special Circumstances

If you have a vacation planned, please let me know as soon as possible and we’ll work out our lesson schedule around it. I like to go on vacation as much as you do and promise to extend you this same courtesy.

One Final Note: Practice, Practice, Practice!

I ask all students to practice 6 days a week and provide a practice calendar for you to keep track. I can help you a lot during our lessons, but it is up to you to review the material. If you do not practice, you are wasting your potential, your investment, and our lesson time. Practicing is the only way to become the exceptional musician you and I want you to be.

Please note that failure to adhere to these policies could result in being dropped from my studio.
